I received a piece of mail this afternoon stating that my interest rate was going to adjust! I freaked out!! I immediately start called the company that sent the letter and then hung up while on hold and called my own mortgage company to see what was going on. Apparently this company likes to use scare tactics to get business. I have copied and pasted the letter for all to read.

As scheduled in your original mortgage documents, your payment is set to adjust. According to our records, your excellent payment history may qualify you for our NEW Timely Payment Reward Program.

A payment increase, of up to 3%, from your initial interest rate will occur if you do not make any changes to your current mortgage account status. Please call 1-888-776-3553 within 5 business days to lock into a Fixed Rate with the TPR Program.

I read an excellent article about going green and living rich today. I just wanted to share some of the information I learned. Did you know that every day in the U.S roughly 690,000 tons of material are dumped in our landfills and only a small fraction of that is legitamate waste! That number was mind blowing to me. I am reading a book called “Start Late, Finish Rich” that has some useful information on how to save/profit. A few of the things are by selling the things you are accustomed to throwing away. By buying used. By not buying just because there’s a newer model. It’s a whole new way of thinking about your “stuff.” Some communities are even offering cash incentives for people who require less trash pickup, which you almost certainly will if you are dedicated to reusing, reselling, recycling, and gifting the things you no longer need. • Set up an eBay account and start selling your unwanted stuff for a profit.

• Look for bargains online. Craigslist offers online classifieds for 450 cities worldwide.

• Shop for free. The Freecycle Network has more than 4 million members in 75 countries. It’s a grassroots, nonprofit movement of people who are giving (and getting) stuff for free in their own towns. According to their site, their service keeps more than 300 tons a day out of landfills!

• If you’d rather give than sell, you can donate items to your local charity thrift store. Even then, be sure to get a receipt for your donation, because it’s tax-deductible.
